3rd Alarm e-bike factory alight in Sydney

Sydney, 5th January 2024 — Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) responded to a significant fire at an e-bike factory located on Elizabeth Street, Croydon, in Sydney’s inner west.

When crews were called to the two-story building at around five in the morning, they discovered it was well alight and that areas of the structure had begun to collapse. The fire’s intensity was compounded by the large amount of lithium batteries, resulting in dangerous fire conditions and the release of highly toxic smoke.

Quick action was taken to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent properties, including two businesses attached to the building, residences behind the factory, and a nearby petrol station

Through the use of ground monitors and Ladder Platform appliances, firefighters were able to contain the fire and successfully protect the exposures. The incident reached a 3rd alarm, drawing in a number of appliances from around the area. There were no reported injuries.
