6th Alarm pallet factory fire in Milperra, Sydney

Sydney, NSW, 21 December 2023 Fire & Rescue NSW responded to reports of a factory alight in Milperra. The incident involved a large timber business, more specifically a pallet factory, which was significantly involved in fire; initial containment was hampered by a combination of strong winds and exploding materials.

The first arriving crews reported explosions and multiple exposures due to erratic fire behaviour and had to force entry through various means to set up exposure protection, including power-sawing security fences and good old forcible entry tools.

Due to the fuel loading and risk of exposures, the incident was upgraded to a 6th Alarm Structure Fire which saw appliances respond from all over Sydney.
