The South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) partnered with the SA government’s Office for Autism to unveil the ‘Hidden Disabilities’ fire truck. Draped in a striking green pattern adorned with the recognisable sunflower symbol of autism awareness, the truck served as a beacon for starting conversations about hidden disabilities, particularly autism, within the community.
The sunflower is an internationally recognised symbol for non-visible disabilities, that can be used as a discreet signal to show that you have a disability or condition that may not be immediately apparent – and that you may need a helping hand, understanding or more time than others in shops, at work, on transport or in public spaces. The MFS is proud to show their support to Hidden Disabilities and the Autism Works campaign, to help make South Australia a more inclusive place for all. 💚
