Crews from Fire + Rescue NSW were called to reports of a building fire at the Mad Monkey hostel in Potts Point, Sydney. Upon arrival, firefighters found smoke and flames issuing from the top floor of a hostel, with occupants self-evacuating onto the street.
It is believed that the cause of the fire was an e-bike being charged in one of the rooms. Video footage shows two men looking into a doorway when flames explode out of the apartment, injuring one of the men.
The fire was contained to a single room and extinguished with 3x lines of 38mm.
