Incident: 8th Alarm factory fire in Sydney’s West

Girraween, New South Wales. Fire & Rescue NSW responded to a significant factory fire incident at Girraween on the early morning of October 29th, 2023. The incident escalated to an 8th alarm response, prompting a substantial commitment of resources from around Sydney.

At approximately 2 a.m., emergency services received a call reporting a fire within an industrial complex located on the Great Western Highway at Girraween. As arriving crews worked to gain access to the building, the fire rapidly expanded and caused a significant structural collapse. Over 100 firefighters from around Sydney responded, making up the 8th alarm response.

Check out the video footage above captured by the crew of 027 Parramatta, which shows the scale and intensity of the fire. With five aerial appliances at work, crews were required to establish a water relay using the on-site ring main.
